How Will I Get To Yellowknife?

To guarantee easy, direct flights, it’s best to fly into Edmonton or Calgary, Alberta. From there it’s a short flight to Yellowknife, NWT. 

Canadian North, West Jet Air Canada have daily flights from Edmonton and Calgary to Yellowknife.  The flight to Yellowknife is approximately an hour and a half.  You will find the local carriers very polite and friendly.

West Jet and Air Canada  are international airlines that also fly to Yellowknife on a daily basis, so make sure to check their sites for special deals and pricing.

 

Where Should I Stay In Yellowknife?

Hearne Lake Lodge guests are given special rates at the Days Inn & Suites.  Mention that you are coming in to experience Hearne Lake Lodge for the special rates.

We also recommend the Yellowknife InnChateau Nova or Explorer Hotel for your travels.

While it’s up to you, I personally stay at the Days Inn & Suites when in Yellowknife. 

 

How Can I Get Around In Yellowknife?

If you need transportation while in Yellowknife you can call or visit the Hertz Airport Office (867-766-3838) to have a vehicle waiting for you at the airport.  To receive the best rate in town, tell them that you are coming to Hearne Lake Lodge. Hertz has new vehicles and friendly country service.

How Will I Get To The Lodge?

We use Air Tindi and Ahmic Air for float plane travel to the lodge.

You’ll fly in a Twin Otter, Turbo Otter, Cessna Caravan, Beaver or Cessna 185, depending on the number of guests traveling to and from the lodge that day.

We also use Acasta Heli for off season transportation.

We believe the float plane ride is part of a True Northern Experience & attention to customer service is second to none with these companies.

 

What Time Do I Fly To The Lodge?

Our float plane charters are based on your commercial itinerary for arriving and departing Yellowknife.  A stay over in Yellowknife may be required on your way to the lodge. 

 

What Time Do I Get Back To Yellowknife?

When going home, you will be back in Yellowknife approximately 3 hours in advance of your commercial departure or the evening before for an early morning departure.

 

How Do I Bring Beverages?

You can preorder your alcohol at the Liquor Shop and depending on size of order it will be delivered to the Float Base prior to your arrival.

Please note that liquor stores in the NWT are not open on Sundays or holidays.

What Kind Of Boat Will I Fish In?

Our boats are 16 foot aluminum with a 15 or 20 hp four stroke motor. They are all equipped with flat floors, a fish finder, personal floatation devices, safety gear and padded swivel seats.

The best part?

We are the only people on the lake.
